EGYM Genius is here
We’re excited to announce the launch of EGYM Genius – a cutting-edge, AI-powered training system designed to take your workouts to the next level. Genius creates hyper-personalised training plans, adapting to your goals, fitness level, and performance every time you train. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to push your limits, EGYM Genius gives you the benefits of a digital personal trainer, helping you stay motivated, make progress faster, and get the most out of every session.
We highly recommend booking an appointment with our Fitness Team so they can show you how Genius works and get your programme set up. Please speak to reception to get this scheduled.
To help you get started, we’ve also put together a list of FAQs answering the most common questions about EGYM Genius, how it works, and how you can make the most of it.
What is Genius AI?
EGYM Genius uses cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence to integrate all equipment on the gym floor into a single training experience. Using smart technology, Genius creates a hyper-personalised training plan for you that adapts to your goals, fitness level and available equipment to help you train smarter and get results faster.
How does Genius AI work?
Genius uses over 7 billion workout data points, 340 million assessment results, and more than a decade of sports science expertise to build tailored programmes for every member. It continuously adapts your workouts based on your progress, ensuring you’re always moving forward.
How will it benefit me?
EGYM Genius can benefit you in a number of ways. You will receive hyper-personalized training plans and effective, goal-driven workouts across the entire gym with visual progress tracking and adaptability features to keep progress and motivation high.
For beginners, the personalized training plans incorporate equipment across the entire gym floor, allowing you to build confidence and structure. For intermediate to advanced users, AI creates professional-level training plans that evolve over time to challenge you and maximise results.
How do I get the most out of it?
Ensure you download the EGYM app if you don’t already have it and book an appointment with our Fitness Team, who will talk you through Genius and how to get started.
Can I still use Circuit mode?
Yes – switch to Auto Mode (tap the circle with three lines once logged in to the machine) to use the traditional circuit setup. Just be aware that other members may be using the machines as before, so availability could vary.
Where has my rest period gone?
Rest periods aren’t shown on-screen anymore to allow for extra sets, but Genius still builds rest into your programme (usually 30s–90s) automatically. You can rest for as long as you need or skip rest entirely if you prefer. You will see on your app how long you should rest for between sets.
Where can I find my programme?
Your plan, once completed by yourself or the Fitness team, will appear in the EGYM App under Workouts > Training Programmes. You can also start directly from your home screen, which will show “Start Workout Day 1” once your plan is ready.
How do I get a programme?
The Fitness Team can help you build a programme that works for you or alternatively you can create a plan by starting on the EGYM Hub which will guide you through a series of steps. You can then create a plan in the EGYM app with just one tap.
How do I get support?
Speak to one of our Fitness Advisors (blue uniform) any time for guidance or a new plan.
What can I do during my rest or waiting period?
The rest period is designed to give your muscles a break so you are ready for the next set. This is built into your plan in the EGYM app.
Why are machines no longer in sync?
To allow for fully personalised training programmes, machines now run independently. This means you can do extra sets or tailored rest times based on your unique fitness goals instead of following a fixed circuit.
Why has genius been introduced?
Genius is designed to enhance your gym experience, giving you the benefits of a personal trainer every time you work out – smarter sessions, better results, and motivation that lasts. Genius integrates EGYM kit with all other machines in the gym so you can begin to make the most of all the available equipment.
How can Genius help me progress?
Thanks to workouts that continuously adapt to progress, members stay motivated to keep training in the gym and pursuing their goals.
How does the AI technology track me?
‘The power of AI is only as strong as it’s data’ – this means that the only way it tracks and develops is if you feed it data and information. Make sure you track your workouts in the app so AI can use this information to keep you progressing.
How does my programme progress me?
Genius uses a progressive overload logic that adapts exercises based on a member’s tracked performance. This ensures continuous progression while accounting for individual performance patterns.
Here’s how it works:
- Weight increases: If you complete all sets as prescribed or exceed the prescribed weights, Genius recalculates the working weight based on your performance. The next workout will include higher weight prescriptions to reflect your improved strength potential.
- Weight decreases: If you cannot complete at least one set as prescribed, the working weight is reduced to align with your current strength level.
- Consistency checks: If you complete at least one set but not all as prescribed, the exercise prescription remains unchanged for the next session.
- Bodyweight exercises: Repetitions for bodyweight exercises remain consistent, even as weight prescriptions for other exercises are adjusted.
- Continuous updates: Progressive overload is applied individually to each exercise, and adjustments take effect in the next workout where that exercise appears.
Each update establishes a new baseline to make sure that the member’s plan evolves dynamically with their performance.
