FRAMINGHAM EARL SPORTS CENTRE EXPANSION

Exciting changes are coming to Framingham Earl Sports Centre. A £5 million project is planned for the centre, bringing improved sports, fitness and community facilities for customers, clubs, schools and the wider community.
The project is being funded by £2.9 million from South Norfolk Council, £300,000 from Sapientia Education Trust, £1.1 million from the Greater Norwich Growth Board and additional grant funding from the Football Foundation.
Once complete, the project will provide more ways for local people to stay active, including new fitness facilities, improved community spaces and upgraded outdoor sports provision.
This page will be updated throughout the development, so customers can find the latest information, key dates and any updates that may affect visits to the centre.
WHATS CHANGING?
The project will bring a range of improvements to Framingham Earl Sports Centre, including:

A new 40 station gym

A multi-use exercise studio

New reception and changing facilities for the community

Upgraded community spaces

New entrance into the site and a new car park
- Day time access for members in line with other South Norfolk Leisure centres
These changes will help create a modern, accessible centre with more opportunities for residents, customers, clubs and schools to get active.
Phase 2 of the project could also see the addition of a brand new 11 v 11 3G pitch! This is currently subject to relevant funding and planning permission being secured.

Member Options Throughout the Closure
During the closure, members have options to either use our other centres at a discounted rate or to freeze their membership.
South Norfolk Leisure Members – for Diss Centre members at the time of closure only
Direct Debit members:
- 50% discount
Pay half your monthly rate throughout the closure to use our centres in Long Stratton and/or Wymondham
- Freeze membership
No payment throughout closure. No joining fee when re-joining.
Annual memberships / 8-10 swim cards:
You can either carry on with your membership, using Long Stratton and/or Wymondham Leisure Centre, or you can freeze now and reactivate when Diss reopens.
For those who would like to use another centre during the closure, 50% bonus time will be added on to the existing balance of your membership. For example, if you have six months remaining, we will add on three months as bonus time.
Swim School Members
During the closure, we are looking at options for Swim School members to use the facilities, and have lessons at Wymondham Leisure Centre or Harleston Sancroft Academy, or freeze your membership until the reopening.

Squad £36 pcm – discounted to £18 pcm

Why is the development work happening?
This project is being delivered in response to growing demand for sports, fitness and community facilities in the local area.
As Framingham Earl and the surrounding communities continue to grow, it is important that residents have access to facilities that support active, healthy lifestyles. The investment will help create more opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to take part in physical activity, whether through casual use, organised sport, school activity or community programmes.
The project also supports South Norfolk Council’s wider commitment to improving health and wellbeing, increasing participation in physical activity and investing in services that benefit local residents.
