DISS SWIM CENTRE

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

• Nearest bus stop: Whythead Gardens, 320 yd from the centre (4-minute walk) or Station Road, 0.2 miles from the centre (5-minute walk).
• Nearest train station: Diss Train Station, 0.5 miles from the centre (10-minute walk).

Accessible Parking Provision

• Car parking is available directly outside Diss Swim Centre.
• The car park is a tarmac surface.
• The car park is made up of 34 spaces, including 2 disabled bays.
• The car park does not have a barrier upon entry.
• Car parking is free with no time restrictions on usage.

Accessible route from parking to building entrance:
• The car park is 10 metres from the building entrance.
• Entrance to the building is via a concrete slope/ ramp, with handrails either side.

Moving around the venue

Entrance:
• Access into the building is step free, with automatic power doors to enter.
• Upon entry to the building and signing in to the centre, visitors go through the access control barriers to enter the leisure area, which are large enough for a wheelchair.
Access throughout the building:
• The building is 1-storey, with full step-free access throughout.
• There is no lift within the venue.
Fire evacuation process:
• General Emergency Evacuation Plan (GEEP) process in place and PEEP’s (Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan) are available upon request.
• Audio and visual fire alarms are fitted throughout the building.
• Trained staff are always present to aid with any evacuations as required.

Facilities in the venue

Accessible toilet and changing facilities:
• Accessible toilet and changing room located in the changing village.
• Left or right transfer available. Page 3 of 4
• The changing facility contains a bench and hoist.
• Open access to changing facilities (no radar key required).
• 5 baby changing facilities and 3 larger family cubicles are also available within the changing village.
Changing Places facility:
• The centre does not have a Changing Places facility, but similar provision is provided within the accessible toilet and changing room, including a bench and hoist.
Induction loop/hearing support system:
• Not currently available.
Quiet space (s) available:
• Foyer area can be quiet upon request, with limited footfall and no music.
Swimming Pool:
• There is a pool hoist for entry into the main swimming pool.

Support in the venue:

Alternative format materials:
• Written timetables, safety information, and prices are available online and physical copies are available in the centre.
Staff training:
• Neurodivergence training.
• Safeguarding training.
Accessible activities:
• SEND swim every Tuesday 2.30pm-3.30pm in the main and learner pool.

o Facilities: Accessible changing rooms and hoist and assisted pool hoist available during all sessions.
Customer support:
• Trained staff available in emergency situations.

o Mobility hoist.

• Accessible family changing facilities are available within the changing village.
