We are supporting Mental Health Awareness Week
This year we will be supporting Mental Health Awareness Week, running from 13 – 19 May. We will be using the week as an opportunity to build awareness of the benefits of physical activity on mental health and raise money for the Mental Health Foundation. Find out below everything that’s going on across our centres.
One-day Free Fitness Pass
With this years theme being ‘movement’, we are encouraging people to move more for their mental health. Non-members can claim a one-day free pass any day from the 13 – 19 May. Simply sign up using the code ‘mentalhealth’.
Wear It Green Day – Thursday 16 May
On Thursday 16 May, we will be supporting the Mental Health Foundation’s ‘Wear It Green Day’. Dig out something green from your wardrobe and wear it to the centre for your workout. We will be taking donations for the Mental Health Foundation – anything you can give is greatly appreciated. Donation buckets will be available on the day or you can donate online.
SPONSORED CLASSES – Sunday 19 May
At Wymondham Leisure Centre, join us on Sunday 19 May for a sponsored Zumba Glow class in the Main Hall with Chloe. This fun class with disco lights will get your heart pumping and is bound to make you feel good. Book now for free. We will be taking donations to the Mental Health Foundation on the day.
At Long Stratton Leisure Centre there will be 3 classes also on SUnday 19 May, so why not join us and move more for your mental health?
- Totally Shredded Fancy Dress – Join us for a fun fancy dress themed Totally Shredded Class.
- Yoga and Meditation for your mental health – Come along to this relaxing class and learn techniques to help with your mental health.
- Zumba Glow – A free and fun Zumba Glow class designed to get you moving.
We will also be welcoming donations for the Mental Health Foundation throughout the day here, too.
Tea & Talk – WEDNESDAY 15 mAY – Long Stratton Leisure Centre
Having a chat with a friend can be great for your mental health. Come down and join us for our Tea & Talk session on Wednesday 15 May from 10am to 12pm and have a natter over a free cup of tea. One of our Mental Health Champions, Claire, will also be on hand if you’d like to have a chat with her.
There will also be a bake sale so you can enjoy a delicious cake. We will be taking donations to the Mental Health Foundation – anything you can give is greatly appreciated.
2 weeks, 2 people, £20!
Starting your fitness journey and taking the first steps inside a gym or leisure facility can be daunting. So why not give it a try for 2 weeks with a friend or family member by your side for just £20! That’s just £5 per person, per week.

Kids Camp bookings open for May half term
Bookings for May half term Kids Camp are now open! We have 4 days of fun planned at both Wymondham Leisure Centre and Long Stratton Leisure Centre, including arts, crafts, sports and all sorts of activities!
Children at Wymondham Leisure Centre also get to take part in a swimming session every day and children at Long Stratton have a session in the soft play area with exclusive use. We are Ofsted registered, meaning we can take payment with childcare vouchers offering more flexibility.
We also now offer 10% discount if your child is a members of our Swim School!
For those who are not Swim School members, you can benefit from our 5 day package which is just £150! You can spread the 5 days across different holidays as long as they are within 6 months from the date of purchase. To take advantage of this offer please book in person at reception.
Kids Camp will be open from Tuesday 28 May to Friday 31 May. Full day sessions are £33 and half day sessions are £22.

Junior open event at Wymondham Leisure Centre
Join us for our Junior Open Morning on Saturday 30 March from 8am to 12pm! This is an opportunity for 13 to 18 year olds to come down to Wymondham Leisure Centre and see what we have on offer.
On the day you can get your heart pumping with our FREE taster classes – Bootcamp at 8am in our Main Hall and Studio Cycling at 11am in our brand-new indoor cycling studio. Our Fitness Team will also be on hand to give you a tour of our gym and facilities, including our state-of-the-art EGYM suite, which juniors are now welcome to use as part of our Junior Membership during our junior friendly sessions
Please book on to the classes in advance by clicking here. The classes will show on the timetable as ‘Bootcamp Junior Taster’ and ‘Studio Cycling JR 30’. If you have any problems booking, please get in touch with the centre. Please be aware, Bootcamp is an adult class which is junior friendly, therefore over 18’s will be present in this class. The studio cycling classes will be exclusively for juniors.

Junior Membership
We have made changes to our Junior Membership meaning it now starts at just £19 for off-peak and £23 for full-access. It includes:
- Gym access (For those aged 13 to 16, this is limited to use of cardio and functional equipment only)
- Junior friendly EGYM sessions (no age restriction)
- Junior friendly classes
- Swimming at Wymondham Leisure Centre
- Free Pay & Play on our 3G pitches at Kett’s Park and Long Stratton Leisure Centre
- Free activity drop-in sessions
You can sign up online or in centre – please be aware a parent/guardian’s signature will be required on the first visit to the centre.
National Pool Lifeguard Courses at Wymondham Leisure Centre
Are you interested in a new career or would you like to earn whilst you study? Wymondham Leisure Centre are running a number of courses throughout 2024 for you to obtain your National Pool Lifeguard Qualifications. The courses are held over six days and at the end of this, successful completion will provide you with; The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ), First Aid at Work (FAW), Anaphylaxis Management, Patient Extraction Board (PXB) and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) qualifications.

- Monday 8th April – Saturday 13th April
- Monday 19th August – Saturday 24th August
- Monday 28th October – Saturday 2nd November
Qualified staff are in demand throughout the UK, making these courses a great opportunity to develop new skills and receive formal qualification. This nationally/internationally recognised qualification is also accepted for those wishing to do holiday schemes such as Camp America.
Our centres are also often on the look out for new staff and the course tutor will make candidates aware of opportunities within South Norfolk Council.
The courses cost £250 per candidate, and those wishing to complete the qualification must meet the following criteria:
- Must be 16 years of age or over
- Able to confidently swim 50 metres in 60 seconds
- Able to jump or dive into the pool and recover an object from the deep end
- Able to tread water

Sponsored Cyclothon – Saturday 23 March
Join us Saturday 23 March for our Sponsored Cyclothon to celebrate the launch of our new indoor cycling studio!
We are running four sessions back-to-back, starting at 8:30am and running every hour.
Sessions are free for members, with the final two sessions also free for non-members, so why not bring along a friend to give it a try?
All sessions can be booked online. We will also be using this as an opportunity to raise money for the local charity, Keeping Abreast, in memory of our South Norfolk Council colleague who bravely fought breast cancer. Donations can be made on the day or by clicking the link below.
Kids Camp bookings open for Easter
Get ready for a fun filled Easter break! Bookings are now open for Kids Camp. We will be welcoming children at Wymondham Leisure Centre and Long Stratton Leisure Centre to join us for 2 weeks of fun actitives including, sports, crafts and a special Mini Monsters session.
Children at Wymondham Leisure Centre also get to take part in a swimming session every day and children at Long Stratton have a session in the soft play area with exclusive use. We are Ofsted registered, meaning we can take payment with childcare vouchers offering more flexibility.
Kids Camp will be open every weekday from Tuesday 2 April to Friday 12 April. Full day sessions are £30 and half day sessions are £20.

Our centres will be closing early on Friday 15 March
On Friday 15 March, our centres will be closing early. This is due to an annual staff event held by the Council to celebrate the hard work that goes on across South Norfolk and Broadland District Councils, including the exceptional efforts of our staff at South Norfolk Leisure.
The centres will therefore be closing at the following times:
Wymondham Leisure Centre – 6:15pm (Swim School Lessons will not be affected)
Long Stratton Leisure Centre – 6:00pm
Kett’s Park – 6:00pm
Framingham Earl Sports Centre – Closed on this day
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this. The centres will open as usual on Saturday morning.
Free family drop-in sessions this winter
This winter, we are providing free family drop-in sessions at Wymondham and Long Stratton Leisure Centres. These sessions provide a space for families to come and warm up and enjoy some activities together. From badminton to arts and crafts, the little ones are sure to be entertained.
A parent or responsible adult must be present at all times, and the sessions are suitable for children aged 5-16 years. Appropriate footwear must be worn.
Sessions will run every week at the following times, excluding school holidays.
- Long Stratton Leisure Centre – Tuesdays – 4pm to 5pm
- Wymondham Leisure Centre – Thursdays – 4pm to 5pm
These sessions do not need to be booked in advance – simply drop-in!
